Fulfil your trusts

Respected mufti sahib spoke regarding the verse of the Surah an-nisa,
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing.”

We confine our concept and thinking of trusts to monetary substance only. Whereas Allah the almighty uses the word amaanaat, which means trusts.

In essence, the ideology and spirit of islam is encompassed within this very verse. Allah is ordering us to fulfil and execute all obligations, to give everyone their right which they are entitled to.

A husband is being addressed to render the trust of giving the wife her rights, likewise the wife is being admonished to fulfil the rights of the husband. A member of parliament is being ordered to comply with the legitimate needs of his constituents. Parents are being told to execute the trust of nurturing their children in the best possible manner. Performing the worship of Allah is a trust which we need to render with perfectness.

The above are just a few examples. We learn that Allah is ordering us to give everyone their right. Rights are a trust, by failing to honour these rights, one will be guilty of committing treachery and betrayal.
