How many times do I say "Allahu akbar" in 'Eid salaah?

What’s the wisdom behind the extra takbeer in ‘Eid salaah? Some scholars are of the opinion that it is there to explicitly express gratitude for the festival and happiness Allah the Almighty has granted.

There has been a classical dispute amongst the scholars with regards to the amount of takbeeraat in the ‘Eid salaah.  Ibn al-munthir (Allah have mercy on him) states that there are approximately 12 different opinions in relation to the quantity of takbeeraat in the ‘Eid salaah. (Bidaayah al-mujtahid 1/492)

The famous opinions:

Hanafi school:

Eid salaah will be composed of 6 extra takbeer; 3 will take place upon commencing the salaah.  3 will take place in the 2nd rakaat after the recitation of the Quran and before going into ruku’. (Badaa’i as-sanaa’i  2/243)
