Question:

Can the son of the bride from her first marriage be a witness for her second marriage?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

 The Answer:

The son of the bride (or the groom) can serve as a witness for the nikah if he is: Muslim, sane and mature [baligh][1].

(قوله: عند حرين أو حر وحرتين عاقلين بالغين مسلمين، ولو فاسقين أو محدودين أو أعميين أو ابني العاقدين)

 وشرط في الشهود أربعة الحرية والعقل والبلوغ والإسلام فلا ينعقد بحضرة العبيد والمجانين والصبيان والكفار في نكاح المسلمين؛ لأنه لا ولاية لهؤلاء
