Question:
My question is about ‘madhi’ vaginal discharge…As I am married and I didn’t know before that we have to wash the affected area of clothes if it is madhi.. I offered salāh just by doing wudhu and not washed the affected part of my clothes. Do I have to repeat my salāh?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Madhī (pre-coital fluid) is a clear thin fluid which emits due to sexual arousal. It is najāsah ghalīzah (major impurity).[1]
In principle,
a. If clothes are soiled with madhī which is equal or less than the hollow of your palm (which approximately has a diameter of 2.75cm) then salāh in such clothes will be valid but makrūh tanzīh (undesirable).
b. If it is more than the hollow of your palm, then to read salāh with such clothes will be makrūh tahrīm (reprehensible) and the salāh will not be valid.[2]
If one finds that the amount of madhī which usually comes is more than the overlooked amount, salāh will have to be repeated. Make an honest calculated judge to determine how many salāh were performed in such a state.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
