In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

 The Answer:

It is disliked and discouraged to hasten in skinning after slaughtering. Skinning should take place after the animal stops convulsing and only when the animal becomes motionless[i].

The Fiqh (jurisprudence of the answer):

Shariah dictates best practice and excellence (Ihsan) in slaughtering and takes into consideration animal welfare in slaughter. As such, any unnecessary action or hasty action which can lead to unnecessary, potential harm is disliked and discouraged. Shaddad ibn Aws reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence in everything…If you have to slaughter, slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife, so his animal is spared of suffering.” [Sahih Muslim]

And Allah Ta’ālā Alone Knows Best
