I recently got married to a man from South Africa. I live in the UK. My father was in South Africa and represented me in the marriage. However, one day later, the man divorced me saying it will not work out. Do I have to observe iddat?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
If a husband issues a divorce without having consummated the marriage or spending time alone with his spouse, then the woman will not have to observe the waiting period (iddah). Immediately upon divorce, she will be permitted to marry another person.[1]
