The Answer
Visions can be classified into three distinct types:
- a) Visions or inspirations from Almighty Allah
- b) Temptations or whisperings from Shaytan
- c) Reflections of one’s conscious thoughts and actions in their wakefulness
If you have been thinking of the deceased person often, and then dream of the person where there is nothing significant or extraordinary occurring, and no message or distinct sign being relayed, then it is very like a reflection of one’s thoughts in your wakefulness.
If a dream is frightening involving the deceased, then simply turn to Almighty Allah and seek refuge in Him. One may also perform Sadaqah actions and Isal al-Thawāb activities for the deceased.
If a dream is extraordinary, or a person rarely dreams but sees a clear and vivid dream of the deceased in a notable state, or a message is relayed, then this is very likely a vision which Almighty Allah has blessed you with. Such visions are facilitated by Almighty Allah and a means of the souls to connect, despite being disconnected physically. One may simply cherish such dreams, alternatively, one may relay this dream to senior scholars and the pious for an interpretation of the dream.
