Question:

Who should bear the Walimah cost?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The Answer:

It is the responsibility of the husband to facilitate the Walimah. The husband and his family should bear the cost of the Walimah. However, if the bride’s family voluntarily assists in the costs, they will be rewarded, and they should be appreciated and thanked.
