Can a husband pay Zakat on behalf of his wife?

The answer

Zakat is obligatory on the owner of the Zakatable assets. It is permissible for another party to discharge the obligation on another’s behalf on condition there is consent or prior acknowledgement. Thus, it is permissible and rewarding to pay Zakat on behalf of one’s wife.

Condition: Requires the wife's consent or prior acknowledgement.
